The Story Behind Lula Lucy Stationery

The Story Behind Lula Lucy Stationery

Creating a greeting card takes a lot of thought. I remember when I came up with the idea. I wanted to help others inspire that special someone. Everyone knows a person in their inner circle that needs encouragement. Right?

Lula Lucy Stationery

With my Ignite card I wanted to spark that very thing hidden in your core. That dream of yours that is just waiting for you to get it going. All that you need is that drive to pursue it.

Be the Sparkle

Lula Lucy Stationery

Be the Sparkle is one of my favorite cards because I thought of the person that would do just that. The kind of person that is on the cusp of releasing their dream to the world. People can be that person that brings hope to someone’s life.

Don’t Give Up

Lula Lucy Stationery

Don’t Give Up is the card that you can give to anyone. It reminded me of a person that is unsure if they should pursue a dream. Maybe they have been trying and have encountered some obstacles along the way that shook their belief system.

Helping keep someone going is the best gift in the world. It is a reminder for them to pursue it no matter what.

Cast Fear Aside

Lula Lucy Stationery

Anyone that has ever gone after something and quit usually did so due to fear. It’s about taking that next step with the Cast Fear Aside card. Holding on to fear is what will keep you from some of the best moments in your life.

I chose the colors because they present a welcoming feel to them with their watercolor format. Making them as a single card that you simply flip over helped give them character.

It was important for me to help support a local printer in my community too. Besides being made in the USA I also believe in giving back. A portion of the proceeds go to A Cure In Sight.

Now you know a little bit about my creation and these are a few of the cards in my collection. I invite you to look at the rest of them on my shop. Maybe they might resonate with you or a special loved one in your life.

As always, I appreciate each and every one of you. Keep dreaming, keep going and don’t think for a moment that it’s not worth it.

Each of us were created to make the world a better place. We can all start by sharing our brilliant sparkle with others.

Are you ready?

Doing More of What You Love

Doing More of What You Love

Each day is a chance to doing more of what you love. Looking at your days of the week may show you a pattern. You might notice that you are doing the same things throughout the week. How do you break out of that cycle?

This doesn’t mean you abandon your responsibilities, but rather explore ways to add value to your day. Maybe you have thought of visiting a place on your wish list. It could be something small or something that you need to plan.

With careful thought you could find yourself doing more things that make you happy. Maybe you are waiting for your significant other to take the lead. Instead you pour yourself into being busier. One word of advice: stop and instead you take the lead.

If you work, you may find that you are too busy to plan outside of your normal routine. People often make it harder than what it is. You could look at your day in two ways.

You work a set number of hours. Then you go on to other responsibilities whether that is on your own or with your family or significant other. The second way is to carve out some time where you get to enjoy something different.

Maybe that is getting together with a friend. If you are a parent maybe you try something new with your kids. It doesn’t have to be expensive, but it does have to provide enjoyment. You can work the daily grind and do it all over the next day or you could change up your routine today.

Don’t neglect the signs around you

What if you neglect noticing the signs around you that you miss out on it?

It happens all the time. Especially if you work a 9-5 job. A friend asks you to get together, your child asks to spend time with you or a loved one hints for some quality time together. How many times have you missed out on a chance to make memories?

Those are the things that you’ll remember you loved doing. Put your cell phone down, get off your laptop and give in to these moments. They are the things that will make you happier.

Change up the way that you do things. See a movie during the week instead of the weekend. Eat at a special restaurant instead of waiting for your birthday. Say yes to an invite instead of wondering if you should go or not.

It’s okay to continue working hard at your job and on your dreams. Although it’s important to remember that we all get the same hours in one day, in one month and in one year.

Give yourself time to indulge in the little things, the big things and anything else in between. Feeling more fulfilled at the end of the day will be your reward. You’ll be able to go to bed with a smile on your face.

If you could do more of what you love today, what would it be?

Archery Tournament a Godsend

Archery Tournament a Godsend

I’ve been practicing archery for a couple of years now. I do not practice every week and only do it on occasion. The times that I have practiced with Christine I make sure that I do my best.

I found Christine Harrelson in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and am happy to say that she has taught me all that I know. A year ago, we had talked about entering a local tournament, but I got cold feet.

Have you ever been afraid to do something out of your comfort zone?

Entering a tournament certainly felt that way for me. It is one thing to do it for yourself as a hobby. It’s another thing to do it with a bunch of other more experienced archers.

I found out about this tournament at the last minute and signed up for it. The minute I signed up I knew that I was obligated to see it through.

Wreath assembly

Boyce Farms has been known for their gorgeous Christmas trees and their excellent customer service. It is a place where you feel right at home and you end up coming back year after year. Creating beautiful wreaths this season was a wonderful experience.

It is my pleasure to highlight them because they have been my go to place for our Christmas tree every year. Last year I missed it because I waited too long, but rest assured we will be getting another one soon.

This year marked their first ever “Wine, Wreaths & Christmas Trees” event. I signed up when there were a couple of available spots. A last-minute decision turned out to be a great way to spend my evening with great company.

Jennifer Lavrack was a great hostess for the evening along with the other amazing team of people. It was a nice way to unwind after a long day. I am sure the other women that attended were happy to get together with their friends too.

Even if you did not go with a friend you had a chance to meet new people. I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and go alone if you don’t have a friend to go with. Everyone will make you feel welcome.

Wreath making

These were some of the tools that were used to construct our freshly made wreaths. I loved being able to cut my pieces with the hope that it would come out pretty. The tutorial was easy to understand. It was a matter of finding the right pieces and in the end, we all had our own unique wreath.

This fire pit created a warm ambiance as we made our wreaths. Plus, you had a great view of all their Christmas trees.

Centerpiece and Wreaths

These centerpieces made me want to cuddle up back at home in front of our fireplace. A variety of wreaths were available also.

At the end of the night we had a new wine glass to take back home as a souvenir. Making a wreath was so relaxing and it added to my favorite time of the year.

I love my wreath and will also be adding some additional Christmas decorations to it. As of now it is already on display on our door.

If you are looking for a fun night out stop by and get a taste of tradition, kindness and all the goodness that comes out of your visit to Boyce Farms. You will leave there with a little more holiday spirit in your heart.

That you can count on.

Reinventing Yourself Through Your Dream

Be Thankful For The Growing Pains

Be Thankful for the Growing Pains

Ask anyone that has ever reached success doing what they love if they ever encountered growing pains. Without hesitation they will tell you that they have. Not only once, but countless times along their path to greatness. Be thankful for the growing pains.

Pushing through the growing pains with your dream requires true grit. You are determined enough to doing what must be done by having grit.

What do you do if you face uncertainty?

Do it anyway. Pursuing your goals requires a backbone. If you didn’t have one to begin with you will soon develop one. This is only true if you stick with it though.

Learn to become disciplined when it comes to facing adversity with your dream. Think of it as a challenge. It is a test to see if you will move on to the winning circle. You start off in Round 1 and then move on to other rounds each time that you push through.

Street Hope Great Gatsby Gala

Street Hope Great Gatsby Gala

One of my all-time favorite novels is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Imagine how happy I was to be invited to the Street Hope Great Gatsby Gala recently in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It took place at the Horace Williams House for a night of dancing, a silent auction, a delicious dinner and fun with others that were there to support a great cause.

The Great Gatsby brings back memories of my days in Ohio. When I worked at a high school my dear friend Heidi had her students read it each year and we would watch the movie. Robert Redford will remain a classic as Jay Gatsby in the 1974 version and Leonardo DiCaprio did a great job portraying him in 2013.

Arriving at the Horace Williams House I immediately felt the atmosphere transport me back in time. An era of glamour, beautiful attire and music. Walking along the brick walkway towards the back of the house I immediately was drawn to the scene before me.

The evening included a dance tutorial by a professional couple. Guests were invited to hit the dance floor to step into the dance of that era. After a few demonstrations couples were dancing to their own beat and with a little added flair.

3 Ways to Finish Strong With Goals in 2017

3 Ways to Finish Strong with Goals in 2017

Some people decide that when it comes to the months of November and December that it’s time to take a break. The hustle and the bustle of the holiday season have a tendency to put things on the back burner. For good reason too if you are the type that does a lot of holiday entertaining.

What if you could redirect some of that time to your goals?

Write it Down

First, write down your goals in a notebook. What did you want to accomplish at the beginning of the year? Compare that to what you want to accomplish now in this season. Are your goals similar or different? It is easy to feel ambitious at first only to find out later that it wasn’t easy after all.

The reason a goal becomes difficult is because you set up obstacles for yourself or the biggest culprit is making excuses. It’s more pleasing to explain why you didn’t accomplish your goals if you back it up with a reason. You can give quick reasons on why some goals didn’t work.

When you do that it hinders you from starting and finishing your goals.

Take Actionable Steps

Goals take action. Without action they are a mere wish or simple thought. If your goal is to start getting fit it will mean becoming active. If you want to finish strong than you will have to start a fitness routine.

5 Things I Learned at the Spirit of Women Conference

5 Things I Learned at the Spirit of Women Conference

Traveling to Atlanta, Georgia from North Carolina turned out to be the best way to spend a weekend at the Westin Peachtree Plaza. When you get like-minded people in the same room together you are in for a win. There is nothing better than filling up on a huge dose of inspiration.

I had heard of Judy Goss through her former job as an editor for More magazine and presently through her radio show: What Women Want Talk Radio that airs each week on LA Talk Radio. That is how I got acquainted with her and her co-host Kristin West a very talented actress and producer

I knew for sure that I wanted to attend this conference after having been a fan of their radio show. If they could inspire me over the air I was in for a treat in real life. I also wanted to extend my gratitude and show my support.

1. Networking Genuinely

The power of a well thought out conference is the ability to have participants network in a genuine way. There isn’t a sense of false pretenses and the people attending are all after something tangible that they can use. That is usually in the form of networking with others.

This conference provided the means to do that with people who had genuine interests. Not only did you get to network you found people from all walks of life that were there to make connections. I found that I was able to make some really great connections with special people.

2. Embracing All Of The Messy Things

Kelly McNelis, the founder of Women for One and the author of “Your Messy Brilliance: 7 Tools For The Imperfect Woman” had a flair for getting women to talk about all of the messy moments in their life. I can’t say that I was exempt from that myself, but she did it in a way that made you feel like talking about it.

It was like a shedding a layer of clothing that you didn’t plan on taking off.
