A Supportive Community Strengthens Your Dream

A Supportive Community Strengthens Your Dream

A supportive community strengthens your dream. Building a community helps you tackle on tough projects. Those projects can consist of big and small goals. Surrounding yourself with folks that get what you are doing is crucial.

First thing to accept is that those closest to you may not always have your vision. That is okay. It’s not for everyone.

Look for people that are on a similar path. Network when you can whether that is work related or socially. Be genuine when you do it.

Be that person that lifts and empowers someone else. The type of person that someone else can look up to and appreciate.

Get Comfortable with Fear

Are you shy?

It’s time to embrace your fearless side. Everyone has that side. Often it is sitting on the sidelines waiting to be invited.

Maybe you haven’t noticed that it is there, but it is. Learning how to step away from being shy and jumping into being fearless doesn’t come easy. It takes guts.

It takes a strong enough will to want to accomplish your goal to get you there. If you haven’t succeeded at something have you asked yourself why not?

Allowing the Fails to Prepare You

Not succeeding right away doesn’t mean that you won’t ever succeed. Being able to fail and get back up takes grit.

It’s the desire to prove to yourself that you indeed will succeed. The first time that you fail at something is easier than the times after that. Failing the first time preps you for those multiple fails.

It is when you fail that you begin to question your path. You begin to doubt if you are meant to do that thing or not.

Failures will season you for the future. Your future self is depending on you failing. Sounds silly right?

Archery Tournament a Godsend

Archery Tournament a Godsend

I’ve been practicing archery for a couple of years now. I do not practice every week and only do it on occasion. The times that I have practiced with Christine I make sure that I do my best.

I found Christine Harrelson in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and am happy to say that she has taught me all that I know. A year ago, we had talked about entering a local tournament, but I got cold feet.

Have you ever been afraid to do something out of your comfort zone?

Entering a tournament certainly felt that way for me. It is one thing to do it for yourself as a hobby. It’s another thing to do it with a bunch of other more experienced archers.

I found out about this tournament at the last minute and signed up for it. The minute I signed up I knew that I was obligated to see it through.

Athletic Wear for the Gym and Adventure

When I decided to go to TreeRunner Adventure Park in Raleigh, NC I wanted to make sure that I would be comfortable. Being prepared to climb and use the strength in your body requires comfort and reliability.

I chose this outfit because I liked the colors and I liked the way that it fit on me. Plus, TJMaxx had some great deals that I couldn’t pass up on. Here are some of the brands that I bought: Balance Collection, Reebok, and Lorna Jane.

My Reebok sports bra was a great fit and I am a sucker for anything black with this go to item.

When I saw these capri leggings, I knew they had my name all over them. Super cute print and they allowed me to move around freely. Not only could I use them for my outdoor adventures, but they are great for the gym too.

My whole outfit geared for adventure.

The contrast in the print with the leggings got my attention right away. I figured why not make it fun right? I could imagine all the other cute tops that would match them.

Ask Lucy

In this weeks Ask Lucy segment the questions come from Lesley.

“How do you juggle being a busy mom, wife and with two careers? How do you do it all and find time to take care of yourself? You are always so beautifully put together and happy looking.”

Wow, those are great questions and such a beautiful compliment Lesley! As long as I can remember I have always worked full-time and have been a writer during that time. I make time for my husband, our boys and myself.

My husband and I like to watch movies usually on demand on cable. If the weather is nice we have been known to hop on his Harley and take a nice ride then stop and get a bite to eat. With our boys we watch movies together or go out to eat.

Bouncing Back from Bell’s Palsy

Have you ever taken your smile for granted?

It seems like something so minor. I can tell you that I have, but it was never intentional. I was always proud of the dimple that I had on the left side near my mouth.

Dimples have a way of adding character to your smile. They serve as that conversation piece especially when you are little. Adults eat it up like their favorite ice cream.

What do you do when you find out you can’t smile the way that you used to?

Let me share my story with you. For me to do that I must take you back, way back to February of 2000. I was close to my final month of pregnancy with my second son. I remember craving a pickle.

Getting Out of my Comfort Zone

You know what I get excited about my friends?

Getting out and doing the things that make me happy! Do you ever feel like something is missing in your life? You keep thinking about it and hope to find out what it is. If you’re like me, you either have a day job or you work full time being at home. Both are jobs that take our time.

I get it, I have lived it.

You do the daily thing day in and day out. You want to know what I did a year ago? I broke out of that mold. So I did the next best thing I started archery. How awesome is that right? It definitely has a cool factor. It’s very Katniss Everdeen of me.
