Embarking on the journey towards your dream means that you must also add discipline. When you first start off on your journey you experience star struck wonder. You are in a land like no other totally fascinated with all of the amazing possibilities.

You can still have all of these things, but in order to grow, self-discipline is a must.

I’d like to share some tips that will help you stay focused with intention while going after your dream.

Do you need self-discipline?

When you are going after your dream you must get serious and really have a plan of action. If you are not strategic about this then things get lost along the way. Those things could be inspiration and motivation.

The most helpful thing that you can get is a planner. A hard copy always works best. Don’t forget the cool apps that you can use on your phone. https://trello.com/ is a great choice to help keep you on track. The sticky notes on your tablet or laptop are helpful too.

Ever work at a job where you enjoyed doing what you love?

When you are a singer/songwriter and you work at the best coffee café ever it happens. Recently, I had the pleasure of going to Sola Coffee Café in Raleigh, NC. http://www.solacoffee.com/ This is my go to place whether it is day or night. Being an employee there must have its perks. Having the opportunity to work for an amazing company is a win. It’s what you do. Then playing a gig at your job is a bonus.

Take a young musician named Colin Leonard. He attended college in Texas before moving to North Carolina. Now that is what you call a Creative with determination. http://www.colinleonardmusic.com/

Bouncing Back from Bell’s Palsy

Have you ever taken your smile for granted?

It seems like something so minor. I can tell you that I have, but it was never intentional. I was always proud of the dimple that I had on the left side near my mouth.

Dimples have a way of adding character to your smile. They serve as that conversation piece especially when you are little. Adults eat it up like their favorite ice cream.

What do you do when you find out you can’t smile the way that you used to?

Let me share my story with you. For me to do that I must take you back, way back to February of 2000. I was close to my final month of pregnancy with my second son. I remember craving a pickle.

When you know you’re in your element

Ever make a trip to your hometown to see how it’s changed?

That’s the beauty of taking a spontaneous trip for the fun of it. However, I have a confession to make. I go to my hometown to catch up with friends and to see family.

I went back to my hometown in Ohio and was happy to see some updated changes. I used to go to a coffee café called Davinci’s. Now it has changed ownership and is called Down Thyme Café.

No matter what coffee café that you go to always ask what the current most favorite drink is. In my case the ever so popular Pumpkin Spice Latte had made its debut.

Do you know what I’ve been waiting for?

The official launch of lulalucy.com! I’ve been a writer for many years and my journey started in Ohio writing for our local newspaper. You see I was part of a community of freelance writers and literally wrote for free for a few years. What I have truly loved is that writing from the heart has always been my main focus. The rest of the opportunities have come full circle because of it. I look back to the early years and realize that I have been blessed in so many ways. It started as a community project and I ended up landing a writing gig with my own column.
